Hello Blue Team!

Bill and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our Blue Team boys and their families!  We will be managing this team and are excited in the anticipation of a great fall season.  It is our hope that the boys will thrive individually and as a team. 

This communication is longer than any you will receive in the future because we would like to address some questions you and your son’s may have.  In this communication you will find the team roster, information on our new Red Bulls trainers, some updates on our new uniform kits/ training jerseys,  and our confirmed Northern Counties game schedule.

Note: if you have a special nick name that your son likes to be called when he is playing please let the team know so that we can cheer it (if he approves of course!)

II.               New Red Bulls’ Coaches:

Those of you who attended our Friday scrimmage were able to meet our new and newly arrived Red Bulls coaches,  Paul Oates and Michael O’Hara who hail from Ireland.  Although both the Blue and White team will have the same training schedule and will train together, Paul Oates is our assigned coach for game days.  Although our former coaches will be missed (Coach John has accepted an offer in Dubai and coaches Mark and Jan have been reassigned) our new coaches come highly recommended from the Red Bulls organization and we are confident that the boys will thrive with Paul and Mike.  Our coaches are excited to be working with our U-10 group and look forward to meeting all of the boys and their families. 

III.            Uniform Kits/Training Jerseys

All of our boys will have their last names on their uniforms this year with their number.  Each family will receive one kit which consists of two pairs of socks, one uniform jersey with their last name on the back, and matching shorts.  In addition, each boys will receive two training shirts.  We are expecting our order to arrive shortly and we will keep you posted on its distribution.

IV.             Season’s Confirmed Northern Counties Schedule (as of September 5^th, 9:00 AM)

Our season’s confirmed game schedule can be found below.  You can expect to receive detailed communication each weekend regarding the following week’s scheduled game.  Please note that the schedule is subject to change.

You will receive separate communication this weekend regarding the details of next Saturday’s 9/10 game.

BLUE WHITE & GOLD

I have just learned that all Montclair United Academy teams will be named either Blue, White or Gold. So our 'A' team playing in the Northern Counties Soccer Association League at the U10 C level are the Blue team and I believe our 'B' team playing at the D level are the White team, if that is in correct I will correct it soon.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 season

Hello Montclair U10 Boys Families,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 season. Our first training session will be this Tuesday (September 6^th) at 5:30 at Brookdale Stadium.

Below we provide some essential information about the program. Also note that there will be a parent meeting September 13^th (details below).

·         Practices will be Tuesdays 5:30 to 7:00 & Thursdays 4:00 to 5:30. Most practices will be at Brookdale Stadium but the location may change from time to time. As light conditions change, the club will also shift the practice times. Be alert for emails from us with updates.

·         Small sided games will be held on another day to be determined. These will be optional but we encourage those who can to attend. The small sided games give kids an opportunity to experiment with skills taught in training session. The schedule will be communicated as it becomes available.

·         League play will begin September 10^th. The managers for each team will communicate with team members about times and logistics.

·         Trainers are from the Red Bulls. The Red Bulls have a well-structured training curriculum. For more information visit: http://www.redbullsacademy.com/training. Our trainers are Mike O’Hara and Paul Oates, both come to us from Ireland.

·         Uniforms will include 2 game jerseys (home & away), 1 pair shorts, 2 pair socks, 2 practice jerseys. The cost of the uniform kit is already included in the full fee.

·         Fall season goes until weekend before Thanksgiving.

·         Winter Training is not part of the regular program. We will be developing an optional indoor winter training program. More information to come.

·         Spring session will begin late March or early April. Spring will have similar format to fall session, including league games. More information to come.

·         Program philosophy and structure about player development are elaborated in the attached document that was developed by the club. Please review it.

Player and family conduct. We will have a program that is affirming of kids who want to learn how to become good football players. We want the kids to develop a life-long love for the game. The Red Bulls trainers are dedicated professionals who have high standards for development but believe this can best be accomplished by creating a positive environment for learning. We will encourage players to show respect for one another. We ask that families also show their positive regard to all players on the pitch. Please allow the trainers to do the coaching during the games.

The parent meeting will be held at 7:00pm at the Edgemont Park boat house. Representatives from the club will be there to address larger club questions as well as questions specific to our group.

We have 1 or 2 players from Hillside School who need rides to the training sessions. The training sessions will be on Tuesdays 5:30 to 7:00 and Thursdays 4:00 to 5:30.

One family cannot sign onto the program unless they can find a ride for their boy.

Please let us know if this is something you could do.

SMALL-SIDED SESSION THIS FRIDAY

We will have a small-sided soccer game session this Friday (8/2/11) @ 5pm @ Brookdale stadium.

Full practices start next week: Tuesday 5:30 to 7:00 @ Brookdale Stadium; Thursday 4:00 to 5:30 @ Brookdale Stadium.

BARRACUDAS UPDATES

Are there any Barracudas parents that could volunteer to email me a one line description of each game with a listing of who scored each week.

Example: The Barracudas had a great comeback win overcoming a two goal deficit at halftime to win 3-2, with goals by Smith (2) and Jones.

Dear MUSC U10 Boys Academy Returning Families,

We hope that you are all having a great summer.  We would like to welcome all of our returning players and their families back to the U10 Boys Academy community!!!  We are excited about the our upcoming season and anticipate a great 2011-2012 program.

The summer is quickly passing and fall travel soccer will soon be upon us.  To get your son registered to play in the Northern Counties Soccer League (carded), we will need you to fill out a new US Club Medical Release Form (attached).  The club has asked that we submit the form for processing by August 5^th, therefore we ask that you please return the completed form to us ASAP so that we may attempt to accommodate the club’s request.

If you have not already done so, please forward the completed medical release form by scanning and  e-mailing it to us as a .pdf or other format file and we will print them or you can mail the form to:

As a “heads up” please be ready to provide a recent 1” by 1” (the size of a postage stamp) photo of your son by late August – this small 1 x 1 photo will be laminated into his US Club Soccer card, which we will keep for presentation to the referees on game day.
